Extend broadband cable

Go to solution

I need a 3 metre broadband cable as on supplied is to short.

Is this just a case of going to shop and asking for broadband cable or something to be aware of before hand.

You don’t make it clear what this cable is doing.  Assuming you’re talking about the cable from the ONT to the router or from your router to your device then, yes.  It’s a standard cat 5e/cat 6 cable.

If it's a cable from a phone socket to the router, it's a cable fitted with RJ11 plugs.  Again, they are pretty standard, so any will do.

Thanks for your help sorry for being vague I just used what  BT called it in the package.

It is the cable from box on the wall next to where phone plugs in to the broadband modem.

Thank you for your help.

If your "box on the wall" is a standard BT master socket (no lights on it) then you need an RJ11 to RJ11 cable.
If the box on the wall is a fibre ONT (with several green lights on it) you'll need an RJ45 to RJ45 Cat 5e or 6 ethernet cable
Just Google RJ11 or RJ45 cables and multiple offers will pop up.
