Extending drop wire?

Our drop wire emerges into the house in the hall and connects to a 5c master socket.

My wife has decided to re-model  and wants me to move the socket out of the hall and into my study so the modem/router etc are not on show.

I had a look at the connections and there is only one orange pair connected. Is there any reason why I shouldn't solder some additional  suitable wire to the existing drop wire, run that to the study and re-install the 5c?

I have some BT wire  but would it be better to use shielded cable to avoid interference?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Extending drop wire?

The cables/ wires prior to the master socket belong to Openreach. You are not allowed to tamper or change them. Its up to you if you choose to ignore that but if you caused any issue with your connection you would be billed by Openreach for any repairs.

Re: Extending drop wire?

OK, so it would be better to leave the 5c in its existing location and extend from it to another socket in the study?
