Hi, I have BT Fibre 900 connected to a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter with hardware offloading to reach the fastest throughput. I've been playing around with the different DNS provider settings such as Google's 8.8.8.8, CloudFlare and OpenDNS. Just wondering if anyone else has tried different DNS providers and what was your experience?
I use DNS Benchmark to find the fastest, reliable DNS. There is nothing to install, just run the .exe file.
First run can take a while as it is initially configured for the US and you need UK available DNS. However I've uploaded the UK (and BT) configured one here. Just download and click on the executable file.

Once run go to conclusions for advice on the DNS you are using. If it advises there are faster DNS available you can find them listed in order in the tabular data tab, it will also show reliability of each.
I'll add a few screenshots in a couple of minutes.
This is from the Gibson research website.
Here's some screen shots fro the conclusions which show a good DNS setting and a couple of possible bad ones.
in my opinionthe best are cloudflare 1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1 google public dns 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 are the best and bt
