Help with 3rd party router

Hi forums, I have a question,

do I need a modem with a 3rd party router for fttc when I don’t have one with fttc now on a smart hub 2? Or can I use any 3rd party router?

Re: Help with 3rd party router

You need a separate modem if you buy a third party router, but not if you buy a third party VDSL modem/router.

The BT hub is a combined VDSL modem/router.

Re: Help with 3rd party router

No, it needs to be a VDSL modem. Your choice is very limited and would be much simpler to use a combined VDSL modem/router which are plentiful.

Bear in mind you will lose Digital Voice capability if you use a third party device rather than the BT Hub.

Re: Help with 3rd party router

Only you can decide what whistles and bells you need over and above the BT hub and how much your budget is. Stick to mainstream suppliers Asus, Tp-Link or Netgear. Is there a particular reason for wanting a third party device?
