Hi, I've just upgraded my broadband and I'm set to get a new hub. Do I need to use this new hub, as I have no problems with my old one. I'm not good with computers and all that, and I would rather stay with the old hub if I can.
It most likely due to the changeover to BT Digital Voice, which needs the latest Smart Hub 2.
If you do not use your phone service, then you can carry on using your existing router.
Thank you for your reply. I do use my landline, but very seldom. Don't think that this digital voice thing will affect me much. So, I will carry on with my old hub unless it stops working. Thanks again.
digital voice will affect you sooner or later as PSTN is closed down
Have a read of https://landlinesgo.digital which explains more about the industry wide change to move off the landline phone network we use today and to go onto VoIP (Internet) based voice service instead.

You have said in your title "Home Hub 2".
Is this the BT hub that you are presently using?
If it is and assuming you were on ADSL Broadband and using a Homehub 2 and you have upgraded to VDSL Fibre broadband, hence the reason you were sent a Smarthub 2, the Homehub 2 will not work on a VDSL connection and you will need to use the Smarthub 2.
