Humax box & Smart Hub 2

I have a humax set top box that I use for watching Freeview channels. It also has an Ethernet connection to my smart hub 2 - however none of the IPTV channels will work. I suspect there’s something in the home hub configuration that is stopping it. I looked in the admin pages of the hub and there are few changeable settings that look like they are relevant.

When I select an IPTV channel in the Humax box (eg channel 284 Gigs) the channel’s introductory screen comes up and then after a little while the message “Sorry, there is a problem connecting to the service, or the service configuration has changed”.  All IPTV channels do the same.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Just trying to understand a little more about your setup. How old is your TV? Many TV’s made in the last few years already have Freeview built in for reception from a standard rooftop or loft mounted aerial which often even negates the use of a set top box. I’ve had Humax PVRs myself but they became completely redundant when I bought a smart TV with built in Freeview. Not only that, but many PVR set top boxes are no longer supported with software updates, often making them obsolete insofar as they no longer operate properly. Both of my old Humax boxes were disposed of entirely because of obsolescence.

My TV does have freeview built in. I have the same issue with the IPTV freeview channels via the TV freeview receiver or the Humax Box.

I keep the Humax because it’s handy for recording programs. Not all channels have streaming apps.

What is the actual designation of the Humax box?

And I assume you do have a current BT/EE TV subscription.

Re: Humax box & Smart Hub 2

I don't have BT/EE TV subscription. These are TV channels that should be accessible via the internet - and I have BT broadband. It's my own Humax box I've owned from before BT was my ISP and it worked with previous ISPs without a hitch.

My Humax box is a HDR-FOX T2

You may or may not be aware that all official support for the Humax Fox T2 ended in 2021. Therefore full functionality may no longer be possible as TV broadcasts have developed.

Re: Humax box & Smart Hub 2

Yes - I was aware. However the problem also affects the same channels if I connect directly from TV to BT SH2 and the Humax box is not involved.

Re: Humax box & Smart Hub 2

@gabnash22  Ok, so what about dispensing with the PVR altogether and not connecting the TV to the SH2 but instead buying a Firestick and stream live TV wirelessly via the Apps on the stick? As long as you can connect a stick via HDMI to your TV. That’s all I do, sometimes through the onboard Apps on the smart TV or the Firestick, but mostly, I watch all Freeview through my satellite dish.

I don’t think all the IPTV channels are available on the Firestick are they?!

Apparently some are but I suggest you do a Google search for specifics 👍
