I have an outbuilding that I want to make part of my home network.

Go to solution

The outbuilding I want to set up on my network can't get the WiFi signal from the house due to the structure of the walls - it's only 25' away.  I assumed I would need to wire a secondary router into the outbuilding.  Currently using the BT Smarthub 2.  I am right and if so, how do I do this- or is there another/better way?

@Richonsong

Can you run an Ethernet cable to the outbuilding?

If you can, then simply plug a wireless access point into the outbuilding end

TP-Link TL-WA901N 450 Mbps Wireless N Access Point, Passive PoE Power Injector, 10/100M Ethernet Port

Alternatively, if it is on the same electrical consumer unit as the hub, you can simply use a pair of power line adapters.

Thanks for the contribution. I thought the same. It is on the same consumer unit although on a different circuit and when I tried that previously it didn't seem to work. Not sure why.
