Hello everyone
I'm using the BT Hub 2 - Full Fibre
I have a PS5 and have major connection issues with only one game FIFA.
I've done everything to fix it over the years and have just found a possible fix. I believe that if I can get the Playstation only working on IPV4 instead of IPV6 it will solve some ping and packet loss issues.
Can anyone help me either get my playstation off IPV6 and only use IPV4?
Currently it's on BOTH IPV6 & IPV4
I'm usually using a wire connection, all other games are fine.
Thank you
Dan
If you want to try turning off IPv6 for everything (you'll probably notice no difference) on the router you can try:
192.168.1.254 (landing page) > Advanced Settings > IPv6 > Configuration > Allocation Mode Off.
Additionally in the PS5 Network settings, you can untick the box next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
After this turn the router off, fully power down the PS5 (and unplug from mains), wait 10 seconds, get the router running, plug the PS5 back in and power up. Hopefully, now that should have gotten rid of the PS5 IPv6 connection. Whether it will cure the problem I don't know!
It may seem off but if you have any devices that self-configured IPv6 addresses (I think this is on by default in Windows), then checking in their settings may still show that they've allocated themselves IPv6 addresses. I've never known this to cause one single issue!
Thank you so much, I'll give it a try and get back to you asap. Cheers for replying it's been sending me crazy. I doubt to that it will work as FIFA is ridiculous in terms of server quality so this is my final fix before walking away completely.
Thanks @Crimliar I am also going to try this as I have the same problems with input delay on Fifa/Eafc24 for 4 years. I can't switch to any other ISP either as Virgin etc can't access my flat.
I can do everything you said on the router side of things etc but my question is this....I don't seem to be able to untick a box for the IVp6 on the PS5 in network settings.
Did you mean on the actual PS5 or also on the router? I'm pretty sure you meant PS5 but I can't seem to find anything and wondered if you knew how to do it?
Many thanks
