Intermitent Wifi and Slow Speeds

Hi Everyone,

First off I have an account under "RobCharles1981" but I forgot my password and the password reset link doesn't work and I even checked in my junk mail folder but nothing ends up there so that's why I made a new account.

Anyway, I need a bit of insight in whats going on here.

Well basically, I've recently moved house and my sister got me BT Full Fiber on the EE network via Wi-Fi and I should be getting lightening fast speeds with this service

But at the moment its total pants:

10meg Download and almost 29 meg upload

When I arrived in my new place in the last week, I had a "Smart Hybrid Router" connected into a BT Modem and couldn't establish a connection it was like waiting for a bus.  The BT Modem was located down stairs and my Computer is upstairs.

The thing is after we spoken to BT they said I needed to use my BT Smart Hub 2 which was back in my old place (doh!) so back down I go on a near 3 hr round trip, connected to wifi the the speeds where just unusable.  Or they sent me a new hub which I received like yesterday, and the speeds are still worst!  Together the Smart Hub 2 and BT Modem is located downstairs

I reached out on live chat who are useless to say the least. 

And I thought sod it Ile do some investigation first before calling BT, I have onboard wi-fi and it seamed that playing with the antenna seamed to give it wi-fi signal and sometimes not, I also brought a Wi-Fi card  to test which took a few moments to get a connection.

But latterly I'm having BT to come to the house to investigate this issue and I'm wondering really in the first instance on what this problem is?

Welcome back to the Community! 

What speeds do you get if you connect your computer directly to the hub via ethernet cable?
Are you able to perform a speed test using an alternative device connected to the Wi-Fi, such as a mobile phone, while you're in the same room as the hub?

Well the BT Guy came yesterday and plugged his laptop directly into my hub and the speeds where off the scale!

To sum it up he said  to get a couple of "Wi-Fi" booster disks to help with the problem.

Called up BT and they sent me a couple, annoyingly Royal Mail attempted delivery this morning when we where in! - So I'm gonna head over there to the Delivery office to pick up the package!

Great to hear the engineer test confirmed the internet speeds were as they should be. I suspected it may be the Wi-Fi signal distance that was causing the issue. 

Just be sure to use the BT app set up service which will help determine the best location for the Wi-Fi discs.
