Mismatch between LG TV & LG soundbar 5hz & 2.4hz

Back in the  summer we bought an LG smart TV and LG soundbar with Wowcast - since then the ability to connect to the Wowcast option has been patchy - we even went as far as having the soundbar replaced as JL technical team who came out couldn't identify why sometimes it would connect to the Wowcast and sometimes it wouldn't.

Anyway, I have identified what the issue is but don't know how to resolve it.  The LG support website confirms that the Wowcast sound option will only work on 5hz.  We have the SmartHub + 3 discs around the house.  I have found that when the TV & soundbar are connected to the 'Hallway disc' they both connect to 5hz and the Wowcast function on my TV works but sometimes they connect to different discs and if they aren't both on 5hz then we can't use Wowcast.  Today the TV is connected to the 'living room' disc on 2.4hz and the soundbar is connected to the 'hallway' disc on 2.4hz so won't connect to  Wowcast

In a nutshell, how can I ensure that both devices connect to the same disc and at 5hz - please help as it is driving us crazy!

Bizzarely a more common issue than you might think and one where many people just grit their teeth and ignore it!  The simple answer is to buy a cheap router, set it up only on 5GHz with the WAN type as "Automatic IP", plug it's WAN port into a LAN port on your BT router, and have the affected devices just connect to this.

*This is not an ideal setup, but it does tend to work for this purpose.

**From what I can tell it has to do with WiFi Direct/adhoc, and a number of devices that must be using similar hardware don't seem to work unless they are connected to the same WiFi device on the same band - before anyone says it, I know this shouldn't be necessary.


I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!
