Moving House

Hi

I'm moving house and I've been given a date for set up that's a week after I move in, which will be difficult as I work from home.  What I don't understand is that I've been told the engineer will need to install a box and drill though the wall etc., but the current occupant uses BT, so why is it not a simple switchover?

Thank you

Re: Moving House

it is possible the existing BT connection is FTTC ( fibre to cab and copper to home) and with new connection openreach will install full fibre FTTP to your new home and therefore need new fibre cable and an ONT installed in house so you can connect your router

Re: Moving House

Hi Thank you

Yes that could be the case, but I wonder if there's anyway I can connect to what's there from the day I move in and then get the upgrade when the engineer is booked?

Re: Moving House

I would expect the line to be cancelled by the previous occupants when they move out - maybe taking phone number with them
