Hi all. Hope everyone is doing well
kindly advise how can I move the master BT socket to
upstairs. I don’t care about the phone line only broadband.
thank you in advance
regards
are you a BT BROADBAND customer?
are you trying to move master to an existing extension socket?
Hi. I am with Vodafone. Yes trying to move the master socket to the existing one upstairs. Thanks
Then it would be more appropriate to post on the Vodaphone customer forum, as this is the BT customer forum.
Then if you have issues with your broadband when you change anything, someone there should be able to help.
The socket may be labelled BT, from a past installation. Its now Openreach property.
If you’re planning on moving it yourself you’ve got 3 options.
1. Ask Vodafone to Pay Openreach for an NTE Shift.
2. Pay some Jack of All Trades to shift it.
3. Move it yourself via one of two methods.
First is run a new cable from where the line Terminates outside in either the BT66b or Capping 101a to where you want the NTE to be. If you plan on using the same NTE you’ll need an IDC Tool, wouldn’t recommend using a flat headed screwdriver. Or buy an newer NTE5c.
Second option is to get Jelly Crimps and patch through the two cables and just put the NTE onto what is currently the Extension Cable.
I highly doubt the second option will have any bearing on your Broadband Speed, especially if the Extension Cable is faulty or low quality grade cable.
