Ok so if we install new hub upstairs today and add all devices to it in readiness for Friday when Openreach come to do final stage, all we will have to do is move it downstairs on Friday?

Openreach will simply install the ONT, connect the HUB2 to it and ensure it works, they're not obliged to connect any of your devices, that is your responsibility. If you wish to put your old hub back, that is entirely up to you.

Re: New BT Hub received

What speed fibre have you ordered? Bear in mind if you use your old Hub4, you will be limited to 100M rather than anything faster you may have ordered.

Re: New BT Hub received

We were told by them they would test one item ie laptop to make sure it works but thats not an issue as such. We are quite happy to do the rest ( all 10 of them). The old hub is BThub4 and about 15 years old and gets hot thats why a new one has been sent bthub2.
Thanks for a good reply x

Re: New BT Hub received

Definitely change the wifi network name and password  on the new hub to that of the old. Save a lot of hassle.

Re: New BT Hub received

Change the SSiD (name) and password of the new Smarthub to be the same as your old hub and your devices will just connect automatically without you having to add them.

You can do that easily by entering the Smarthub's admin settings.

EDIT: Snap!

Re: New BT Hub received

Hi again

Thanks for your your advice.  Openreach came yesterday and connected the full fibre and tested one item for connection (my Phone).  Good service from engineer, very friendly and did not mind answering our questions.

We asked about the old BT Hub and he said we need to contract BT for them to send a postage paid bad for us to send the old one back to them and to get proof of postage from post office other than that we may get charged for not returning it, is this true?

Dialling customer services 0800800150 there are so many options as you know and keep getting put on hold for ages more than likely the wrong extension.

Do you know the best options to choose?
