@RobMcP This may or may not affect anything with your set up, but still worth a read:
Again, the printer traffic should be internal to the network and so does not need the default gateway, (as that's the gateway to the outside world).
Checking the IP addresses is always a good move though. As the static range between the hub and the Draytek will have changed, is the printer address now clashing with a dynamically issued address?
(I would have thought not, as the OP is getting a firewall error, but as I said, checking the IP addresses are valid is always a good place to start).
Edit: @RobMcP Actually, thought has just occurred...you have got the PC set as a private network , rather than a public network, haven't you?
Thanks Tim, The printer has the SAME IP address xxx.xxx.1.189 as when I used the Dratek before BTs install. The Printer lets two of us request prints, screenshots etc, and prints them, but when we scan a doc from the Brother printer it mentions (in a non specific way) Firewall.
What is frustrating is, I can print, but cannot scan, and no clear reason why not. Still working on this.
I am unsure how the BT firewall is configured, but there is one in the .254 login panel.
Thanks.
For the last time there is NO hub firewall within your LAN.
The firewall prevents unsolicited external connections, it only exists between WAN and LAN.
Did you look at the article @Kimberlin linked to?
Did you check your PC is configured as Private Network as @WSH mentioned?
I looked for this but could not find the option in my set up (Win 10) nothing much has changed hardware wise (other than the BT Hub) Printer has the same IP, it WILL print fine to both pcs, it WON'T scan a document to either without saying, Firewall, it's infuriating.
Right click Windows Start button > Settings > Network & Internet > “Windows Firewall” link at the bottom of the screen > Link for “Allow an app through the firewall”
Unless you have Digital Voice, there is no need to use the BT hub, you could revert to the Draytek. However, I really can't see how the hub can possibly be the problem, particularly as the print function works ok.
