PS5 / Smart Hub 2 - Speed up lag issues

I am connected a PS5 to Smart Hub 2 via wifi - i having issues with various games but notably the new FIFA.  The action will slow down briefly then catch up at 100mph.  No previous issues over ethernet (long story but now need to go over wifi)

Have been sent a couple of wifi discs - router is placed in lounge downstairs .... disc 1 placed in bedroom above router with second one in games room next door (with PS5)

Discs have made no difference - any ideas on how to resolve without going back to ethernet??

Re: PS5 / Smart Hub 2 - Speed up lag issues

The discs still use wireless, so that is why they make no difference. A wireless channel is a shared resource, and only one device can communicate at a time, at half-duplex.

Unfortunately an Ethernet connection is going to be the best solution, but you may like to try powerline adapters first, as they generally perform better than wireless.

Re: PS5 / Smart Hub 2 - Speed up lag issues

I play alot of FC24/25, having been playing FIFA online since the PS3 days, you need to use ethernet. This game is very sensitive to latency spikes, any other setup will not perform as well as direct ethernet.

Powerline can perform better than WIFI with regards to latency but it all depends on environmental factors, powerlines of course using your internal electrical wiring which sometimes can be subject to interference also depending on the devices also drawing power from a given circuit, it could be the last minute of the game, Mbappe is running through at 400mph and you are doing everything in your power to defend out a victory to stay in the division, then someone yoinks on the Microwave or Washing Machine and your latency goes to pap....Even so, Powerline baseline latency might not be good enough for FC games, cant hurt trying though.

How come you cant use Ethernet if you once were? Maybe someone on here will have a suggestion how to work around the new found restriction?
