My new PS5 cannot connect to my BT Smart hub 2 wifi. I'm at a complete loss. This is everything I have done to get to the root of the problem.
- Restart PS5 and router
- Change wifi bands on PS5
- Move PS5 closer to hub/disc/somewhere with low interference
- Looked into MAC address filtering (don't think smarthub 2 has this)
- Successfully connected via LAN cable AND to mobile hotspot
The LAN connection is only temporary, it isn't a long term option. BT said it's a playstation issue, when the only method it can't connect via is wirelessly to my wifi. I can't get through to someone at sony for this issue, but I can't see how it would be a sony issue. Please if anyone has any advice or tips, let me know!
PS5's work perfectly well with SH2. Check your Parental Settings within MyBT because if they're enabled, they could be blocking it.
What message are you getting when trying to connect?
I don't believe there are any controls at all.
There are a few different messages, most commonly along the lines of failing to connect within the time limit.
They're definitely something blocking it. Check your Parental Control Settings and also if you have a VPN or Firewall built into anti virus software.
The only control enabled is web protect, everything else is turned off. I also can't see any active vpn.
Looking on the hub manager, the firewall configuration is set to default. Is it something to do with port forwarding?
No, it has nothing to do with port forwarding. Turn off web protect.
It worked! Thank you.
Does it need to remain turned off to keep the playstation connected, or now that it has connected will it stay connected if I turn web protect back on?
You need to leave it turned off
