Re: Using a Wi-Fi Extender on the Smart Hub 2

Will the mains linked extender use the same SSID? I have always understood that the mains extender had to be on the same ring cct and this was implied by TP support as the area where I will be working is in an extension to the hose. Both rings terminate on the same consumer unit. I have never tried these extenders before.

Re: Using a Wi-Fi Extender on the Smart Hub 2

I use the TP Link Deco E4 three node system which works well for all my IP cameras, including a couple of bird box ones. This is configured in access point mode.

You can also set up a separate guest 2.4GHz only network which seems to suit many devices better. Just remember to allow local access.

A two node E4 costs about £49, one of which needs to be connected via Ethernet to the home hub. I am using a Home Hub 4 (ADSL), with its wireless turned off.

Re: Using a Wi-Fi Extender on the Smart Hub 2

Thank you, I was not aware that you could make adjustments to the home hub or the link extender. I am a beginner in wifi extenders and instructions enclosed with the devices are minimal. I don't want to run ethernet cables around the house. My wife would not be happy with the disruption to her decor.

@DonB9

I have three of the black mini-discs from BT as part of my Halo 3+ ; no additional fee is payable.
