Replacing the smart hub

I have been adding more devices to my home and the smart hub just can't cut it any more, I have a g.fast connection and if I had everything turned on, around 50 devices with a three disk set up. I work from home so a good stable connection is essential.

I'm looking at replacing with a draytek 166 modem and a tp link ax5400 mesh.

Has anyone else done similar

Re: Replacing the smart hub

Have a search through Kitz https://forum.kitz.co.uk/

I think there is a long thread about the Draytek 166.

Have a look regarding Zyxel devices as well, I believe they are the preferred option in a very limited choice of G.Fast devices.

Re: Replacing the smart hub

I went with an ASUS RT-AX88U. I have about 80 plus devices and copes really well. It also supports Marlin firmware which is great. I also have a camera system running over the network.

There was no issue connecting to BT Fibre. I followed these instructions. https://youtu.be/DueAvG-dCHU

I have two switches installed to extend the ethernet connectivity.

You appear to have missed the part about G.Fast connection.

Re: Replacing the smart hub

So I did the replacement, wasn't as easy as just plug and play as they advertise, but I'm now seeing decent speeds around my home. I replaced the smart hub and 3 disk set up with the draytek vigor 166 and tp link deco x60 3 unit set up.

Speedlink now showing close to 300mb speeds.
