Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

It is the firmware.  You MUST be able to run both WiFi networks on different channels.  There is no other fix.  This requires BT supplied firmware.

I presume you mean different SSIDs rather than different channels. There is no firmware to allow this on the SH2

You can either buy a 3rd party router that supports g.fast. v expensive.

Or disable 5ghz -not an option.

Or use SH1, which has firmware that allows both WiFi networks on different channels.

As above

Such a disappointing service and product from BT.

Re: Smart Hub 2 Wi Fi devices are dropping connection and reconnecting

I have given up trying to get BT to troubleshoot the firmware.   I bought an Asus Zen Mini AiMesh Router and Node.   What is the optimum way to connect this?  I can't see a way to put SH2 into Bridge Mode.   Is that the best way?  (I would like to keep the DV functionality of the SH2)

No bridge mode possible for SH2. Can the ASUS kit go into access point mode?

@stevebrass   The Asus is now working as a wifi Access Point ( although not in Access Point mode).  It just worked and currently has one node and wifi coverage much further than the SH2 - and more reliable too.

i have yet to turn off the SH2 wifi.

Any new SH2 firmware? Wondering if splitting SSID networks feature has finally been implemented by BT on SH2 yet.

There is no new firmware for SH2 and I very much doubt and update will provide ability to split the 2.4/5ghz networks

What makes you very much doubt that?

Because it isn't a fault, it is a deliberate decision taken by BT

I said feature.

It was deliberately implemented on SH1.
Do you have insight as to why it was deliberately omitted from SH2?

Yes, for operation of the black complete WiFi discs that are only compatible with the SH2
