Hi Folks,
Got a SmartHub2 on FTTP, everything works fine, 2x wifi discs, wifi repeater under stairs (soon to be swapped out to powerline via an unmanaged switch, however.....
Whenever I power up an unmanaged gigabit ethernet switch (TP-Link) that is plugged into it, it drops wifi to some, but not all devices, they then can still see the wifi, but cannot connect, takes an eternity then returns a timeout error.
Unplug or power down the ethernet switch and all is restored, I have done a full hub reset and made no difference.
All that is plugged in currently is the ONT, an XBOX (powered off at mains) a Humax Freeview box and the ethernet switch.
Ethernet switch also does not allow traffic through, plugged in devices can be 'seen' but cannot access or send/receive data from them.
Any help appreciated.
Have you considered that the switch could be faulty?
Tried on another hub and appears to work fine.
Have you tried the other hub on your network set up to see if the hub is the problem?
Hi,
Yes other hub tried and working, but doesn't have the ability to work with the WiFi discs so won't be using it for anything other than testing
There would appear to be a conflict with something on your network. The most obvious to me is the Ethernet switch or its power adaptor causing interference. If possible try moving it further away from its present location to see if that helps.
If it still happens it might be a case of trial and error until you find out what device is causing the issue.
Start off with just the hub and then add the Ethernet switch and try connecting a wireless device, if that appears to work try connecting one of the discs then the other disc then the next device until you find out which device is causing the problem.
