TL-WPA8631P KIT & HomeHub

Go to solution

Hello, hoping someone can advise on the likelihood of this working before I purchase. Currently have BT HomeHub 2 on the middle floor and need to get a better wifi connection downstairs on the other side of the house.

If I were to buy the TP link powerline adapter (TL-WPA8631P KIT), would this play nicely with BT's router?

I currently on Full Fibre 500, get 480Mbps over wifi next to router, 165Mbps downstairs over wifi.

Thank you

Yes, powerline adapters are completely agnostic to whatever router is used.

I've set up the older TP-Link WPA7510 (off the top of my head) a couple of times, and they worked quite well.  Don't expect stellar performance, and thanks to the added latency you wouldn't want to online game through them, but expect a solid 260Mbps+ through them even if they are on different ring mains.
*My experience was that you don't want more than 3 or 4 HomeAV devices plugged in, or the performance drops.
**For more complex setups, it can be worthwhile looking at the (definitely more expensive) Devolo product range, though some of these require installation by a qualified engineer - and if they ever fail....

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!
