Re: Updated connection speed not behaving as expected - Tests are controversial

@Crius

One thing about Powerline adapters is that anything else on the circuitry can affect them, so the fridge/freezer kicking could introduce interference that reduces your speed as an example.

You are clearly on the Fibre 500 package as you hit the 70mbps upload limit so that's good news.

I think there's a setting for some of the TP-Link adapters to reduce sensitivity (I think that's the setting or something similar) which can improve throughput.

Any ISP will only guarantee download speeds using a properly configured wired connection to their router so when trying via PLAs or wifi then there's no certainty as to what you'll get.

You've had some of the best members of this forum trying to help you and all you can do is be rude so good luck in the future as I'm sure they won't come back to assist you in the future.

Re: Updated connection speed not behaving as expected - Tests are controversial

I've been reading this thread with interest, so I'll chuck my bit in. Whether anyone chooses to believe however, is another thing.

So I live in a house that is now 4 years old, I moved in in June 2021. The house was fully equipped with FTTP and as I'd previously been with Plusnet at my old address, I wanted to stick with Plusnet at the time. However, it became apparent that the only option presented to me for broadband only, was BT, so that was that. I had enquired about other providers prior to moving in, but was informed that the only choice I had was BT. Inital contract was for two years. I was given a new home discount with BT for 3 months at £17.99 and then it was increased to £28 a month which eventually ended up at £34 a month.

As the intial two year contract drew to a close, it became apparent that some of my neighbours had begun to move onto other providers. I decided to stick with BT, haggled for a new contract for another two years. Now, four years into my residency, I've returned to Plusnet, entirely due to the lower monthly cost.

So basically, all I'm saying is, I was in the same position regarding being given only one option when I moved into my new home irrespective of whether or not as has been stated, that BT don't have exclusivity on Openreach products. I'm not saying I disbelieve what @iniltous has stated by the way.

What I will say, in the four years I've been in my new home, my broadband has been nothing short of fantastic and trouble free and that's with using my own router.

As an end piece, I connect to my internet almost exclusively via WiFi. I use both a desktop which I built myself, and I have a notebook which is only a year old. My WiFi drivers are Intel. The drivers are regularly and routinely updated via the Intel driver support assistant and I don't have any issues connecting.
