Re: Use Smart Hub 2 as VoIP client only - no Wifi, no routing

Yes, you do make a good point in so far as it might be easier to alter the IP address on the hub if the network already uses 192.168.1.0

Still seems like duplication of effort, though, but up to you, it's your time.

It is, indeed, my time.

Apologies if I have encroached upon your territory, but I spent some time delving into the DMZ router with the HH before I went down that road a while back.

If you check, you will see that my latest message added to previous advice I have tried to offer on a perennial topic, how to get a Netgear router to work with the HH. (I also hang out in the Netgear community, where the same subject comes up occasionally.) The next time this comes along I can simply throw in my "boilerplate" version.

If you look closely, the DMZ route I described is very different from your suggestion. Fewer things to change. The choice has to be down to the user and what they want to achieve.

I wouldn't dream of insisting that anyone took a particular option. Mine is just a variant, with illustrations, of one of the recognised options for two routers.

Another option is to ignore the "double NAT warnings and let the Netgear router squat on a different IP range. Usually, 10.0.0.1. But I am no fan of that, for reasons I explained.
