My in-laws have recently joined BT fibre and have one Wi-Fi blind spot in their house. I changed my router to a third party one to get faster Wi-Fi 6 speeds on the fibre 900 package as the SH2 wasn’t cutting it, so I have a spare SH2 in a cupboard somewhere.
If I gave it to my in-laws, could they use it as a Wi-Fi extender/satellite? If so, what settings would need changed in my SH2?
Give it an IP address outside of the DHCP range of the main router, turn off Smart Setup and DHCP on the BT hub and connect the 2 devices LAN port to LAN port as has been described countless times on the forum.
You would be far better to buy a pair of wireless powerline adaptors and site the slave unit where the blind spot is. This would negate the need to run an Ethernet cable in order to connect their present router to the SH2.
