Using own modem with FTTP

I'm thinking about upgrading to FTTP but am unsure if my Deco x73 router is compatible, had to stop using the Smart Hub2 as had too many problems connecting my Ring doorbell and echo shows to it. Guessing I'd have to change the mode of how it's setup if it does work with it. Does anyone know about full fibre without using the Smart hub 2?

Re: Using own modem with FTTP

if you intend to use the landline to make calls then you will need to use the SH2 when moving to digital voice

Re: Using own modem with FTTP

I have no trouble operating either my echo or ring devices with my SH2, perhaps it would be worth factory resetting your SH2.

Re: Using own modem with FTTP

I tried that, spent hours trying to get it to work, using a hotspot on my phone or the new router I bought they connected straight away and stayed connected, on the smart hub 2 the ring would connect at all and the echos would just randomly drop the connection

Re: Using own modem with FTTP

I have a Ring doorbell and a couple of Echo shows as well as other smart devices all working with my SH2 in it's default wireless configuration, I occasionally have to repeat Alexa commands but on the whole it works well.

Maybe you have a faulty SH2.

Re: Using own modem with FTTP

After it took best part of 2 weeks for them to send that one after my smart hub 1 died didn't really want to go through getting that one changed, was easier to just get a different router on Amazon prime and have the problem fixed in 1 day

Re: Using own modem with FTTP

If you choose that option then you will need to make alternative arrangements for a landline (assuming that you want one) as Digital Voice will only work with the SH2 setup and connected as your primary hub
