Hi
Thanks. One more tech question, if i set up a new WIFI mesh system using the TP Link deco x50 equipment I assume this will be completely separate wifi system to the wifi broadcast by the BT kit. All i wil be using is the ethernet port on the back of the Main BT hub to get Broadband access. So in my house I wil have WIFI from BT, and the one i create using the Deco equipment, and as such I could connect to either ?
Correct
It may be best to turn the wireless off on the hub, and just use the Deco.
The Deco actually scans all 12 wireless channels, and finds the one with least interference. In my case, that is channel 9. I keep the main Deco powered up all the time, as it on my UPS, with the router and other equipment.
hi
Thank you, that would be done on the hub. As you have a deco system i was think of getting the deco x50 three pack to cover my 4 bedroom house. One hub next to the BT hub, one upstairs and one in the living room. Assume that would work.
That would be plenty of coverage. I have four nodes, three inside, and one in the garage.
I use the Deco E4 system, as my LAN is only 100Mbs, and Internet is either 10Mbs or 30Mbs, depending on which connection I use. The 10Mbs is ADSL and the 30Mbs is 4G.
Hi
I have a question, I have a Tado home heating system, which has what they call a bridge piece of kit. This allows all the other Tado things to connect. It is currently plugged directly into the BT router ETH port and thus I have been told takes the wifi directly from the router. If i move this to an ethernet port on the deco, will it still think it is connected to the BT router and thus use that wifi or will it pick up the wifi that the Deco generates.
Any help appreciated
It will work just as well if connected to an Ethernet port on the Deco, as that is all it needs to access the Internet.
I have a Youview box, a smart TV, and an IP CCTV camera connected to different ports, and they all work fine.
I use the TP Link Kasa/Tapo system, their hub connects via wireless, to a nearby node.
I avoided the Tado system, as its very expensive and not as adaptable.
thanks.
So if my BT WIFI goes of, and the Tado bridge is plugged in into the Deco, I will still be able to remotey control heating as it will use teh Deco generated WIFI.
You will be using the Deco wireless backhaul connection back to the master Deco node which is connected to the home hub.
Does the BT Hub Ethernet port physically via some kind of protocal tell whatever is connected to what wifi name is.
