Evening all,
As above I'm waiting on an activation date, the master socket is downstairs at the front of the house/fitted just inside the front window.
I'd prefer the hub to be upstairs with my pc connected via ethernet. The main phone would be downstairs in the living room. Are these options:
1) connect the microfilter to the master socket and run a short extension for the phone and a longer one (12m at a guess) pinned to skirting and up into the office room. Will an extension this long affect fibre 2 speeds?
2) can I change the faceplate so theres an RJ11 connection and run the extension (would this faceplate have a filter built in?) would this be any better than option 1? I don't think it will.
3) Do I pay a local engineer to move the master socket into the room I need it? As it will mean extending cables is this effectively option 1 again?
The attached photo shows the front plate of my NTE.
TIA 🙂
Solved! Go to Solution.
Fit a filtered faceplate downstairs and run the extension upstairs from the Data Extension terminals of the master to an RJ11 socket upstairs.
Just replace the whole thing.

Yes
edit: removed link
Being a virgin media customer for a long time I see how adsl connections have changed slightly since my folks had adsl in early 2000s
Yes, but please delete the link as it is against forum rules to link to e-commerce sites.
