Whole Home Wi-Fi setup error codes

Hi I am having problems connecting a new fifth disc to my 4-disc Whole Home Wi-Fi setup. I am at the 'move to a new location' stage, which I have done.  The disc's light is solid blue. The app says it is there but needs configuring. When I try to rename the disc I get 'Failed to update disc name' with error code Setup-015. does anyone have a clue what might be going on here? Is there a list of error codes anywhere?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best wishes

Re: Whole Home Wi-Fi setup error codes

I just thought I would use the browser interface to wholehome (http://btwhole.home/) rather than the app. Using that I successfully managed to change the device name. So, my immediate problem is solved. I would still like to understand the error codes though and why the app couldn't do it.

Many thanks

Re: Whole Home Wi-Fi setup error codes

The app is no longer supported, mine stopped working about a year ago.
I just added a new disc with the Ethernet cable from the first disc, then unplugged it and put it where I needed once it turned solid blue.

I can’t access mine via the link you added either.

If they stop working I just switch off then on one by one, that seems to fix any issues.

Re: Whole Home Wi-Fi setup error codes

Hi Tony

the browser interface should work. I managed it through Windows using Edge. All must be on the same Wi-Fi network. It is useful for the requirement to force 2.4Ghz when connecting smart home devices, amongst other things. It is an unsecured interface so browsers such as Chrome might need some persuasion.

Also, I was not aware the app was no longer supported. Seems unlikely.

I had great difficulty adding a new disc I had bought separately. I achieved it by precisely following the below instructions obtained from a post by @steveL123

Re: Adding a new disc to whole home wifi with different network ID
Connect the add-on disc to your hub (router) with the Ethernet cable provided
Switch the new disc on and wait for the LED on the disc to turn solid blue
With a pin or paper clip, press the factory reset button on the rear of the disc for about one second
Wait for the LED to turn purple, flashing blue, then solid blue for at least 15 seconds
Once completed, turn off this disc and follow the app set-up instructions

Re: Whole Home Wi-Fi setup error codes

Further to this post, I have noticed that although the app may return an error when changing the name, the update may nevertheless happen. I haven't analysed this in-depth. It may be that the error code is displayed, it says 'retry?' so you do, you then get the error again, but when you look at the browser interface, the new name has taken. Add this to the fact that you can make the change through the browser interface and you have a choice of workarounds. The browser interface certainly works through Edge and the app certainly works on iPhone as of June 2025.
