Upgraded my package, received Wi-Fi disc as part of it.
Have used Powerline Adapters for years but for the last year Bt Sport HD and Sky sports has gone off every so often. This is corrected by turning BT box off and then back on. Spoke to BT many times (was usually bad weather).
Eventually they decided it was my home wiring!
When offered Wi-Fi disc was told this would replace the Powerline Adapters, the gentleman actually checked with someone else.
After setting up today this is not the case as Sports will not work without the adapters!
Can anyone confirm this or am I missing something .
Solved! Go to Solution.
The disc should work regardless of whether the power line is present or not.
Did you pair the disc with the hub and what colour is the light on the disc
"BT Box" & "Will not work" isn't very helpful when trying to fix a problem. Which BT Box do you have, exactly did you do & what exactly will not work?
Starter for 10, only the latest BT Pro Box works on Wifi.
The disc is working, blue light, everything paired as instructions, but if I do not have the Powerline Adapters plugged in , Bt sport & sky sport doesn’t work ie. Program won’t come on and screen tells me to check my router.
Replied to other post. Box Humax DTRT 4000.
They offered a pro box but as my box was ok it wasn’t necessary to change it .
So if I had a pro box would this mean I wouldn’t need the Powerline adapters?
You don't need the powerline adapters with the DTRT-4000, just unplug the network cable from the powerline adapter and plug it in to the rear of the disc
Thankyou, I’ll try tomorrow when there is no football on tv and will let you know. Thanks again
Could I also ask, does the disc need to be plugged into an electric socket at all times. Having googled some posts say yes and others say no ?
No not necessarily. Obviously it has to be when you need it working but you can switch it off say at night, just be aware that it could take up to around 2 minutes to reconnect with your router when you power it back up.
You will not need to pair it again after turning it back on if that's what you're concerned about.
Thank you again.
