Today we had a new Wi-Fi router fitted, that includes Full Fibre, and realised we was not getting the speeds we had been promised.
We was meant to be getting over 1000mbps, but doing speed tests showed just 70. This lead to us Phoning BT and them then telling us we need to upgrade our broadband plan to allow for these speeds. They said that this upgrade should take place on Wednesday 18th December.
We agreed to this, and since this phone call, our Wi-Fi no longer works whatsoever? Is this meant to happen and do we need to wait until Wednesday for the Wi-Fi to switch on? Or is there another issue?

The speed is only guaranteed if you use a wired Ethernet connection to a fast PC, you will not get anything like that speed over a wireless connection. Upgrading will make no difference.
You would not get over 900mbs, even over a wired connection, as that is the fastest speed that BT sell. Are you sure you are not with EE instead, or have been told you are being forced to move to EE?

Sorry to be unclear, the speed we are meant to get is around 700-800 mbps i think.
You will not get that speed on a wireless connected device, but you should get it on a direct Ethernet connection.
No ISP guarantees wireless connection speeds, as there are too many variables outside of the ISPs control.
If you are getting 70Mbs, then that is as fast as your device can handle.
If you are getting 70Mbps it's likely that the device you are using is on 2.4GHz WiFi and using just a single stream. If your device(s) is capable of 5GHz and using more than one stream, then it may switch to this of its own accord at some point, or you may have to intervene.
As for speeds using an Ethernet cable, on the 900Mbps plan you may if you're lucky get up to 940Mbps. In some places, BT are now offering even higher speeds, but it is dependent on local hardware
