WiFi Range

Go to solution

Hi All.

I have Bt Broadband but can't get a Signal in my Garage.

My Garage is in my Garden which is about 80-100 Feet from the Hub.

I have Tried the Plug in Range Extenders but they still didn't give a Strong enough Signal as it kept dropping out.

Tried moving the Hub Closer to the Garage but to no avail.

I want to put a WiFi CCTV Camera up on my Garage but need a Good Signal.

ANY IDEAS ???

Thanks in Advance.

Brian

If your garage has a mains socket fed from the same consumer unit as the hub, use a powerline WiFi hotspot. Have a look at the TP Link range

For a security camera I would run a cable in a conduit to you garage and connect to a wired power over Ethernet camera using a Poe switch.

Re: WiFi Range

If neither of the above are feasible then one option may be to use a Yagi antenna - try a google search for "diy yagi wifi antenna" to get some ideas of what its about. You can, I believe now buy ready made antennas from the likes of  Aliexpress.

Given the option however, I would go with a wired solution if possible, either an ethernet cable or secondly the powerline option.

I took your advise and Purchased the AV1000 Gigabit Powerline ac Wi-Fi Kit and it Works a Treat, Getting 104mbps on my Phone.

Happy Days, Now to set up my WiFi Camera.
