I use Fibre 2 and have the Smart Hub 2 - all in on modem/router/wifi. I want to replace with AVM FRITZ!Box 7530 (also an all-in-one) flashed with OpenWrt. Would that work?
I ran a couple of 7530s in a mesh configuration for a couple of years without issue, but with standard firmware.
I'm not sure they have a bridge mode as such.
Edit: You edit threw me, thought I'd imagined bridge for a moment!
Sorry about the edit - see the link I added for context (look at the very bottom of the thread).
So if it's flashed with OpenWrt, it can do bridging.
Anyway, so seems like no problem?
you need the SH2 if you have digital voice
Most, if not all of the 7530s on Ebay will be Zen variants, with slightly tweaked firmware. It doesn't seem to be possible to make them completely stock (I did try) & AVM weren't much help. So not sure if there might be issues trying to flash them. So your question might be better asked on a Zen specific forum.
I've very glad you mentioned Zen.
From what I can tell looking around on eBay, if you look at the label underneath the device, Zen variants say "Edition Zen Internet" on the black bar. And there are others which don't - meaning they should be plain stock.
Nope - they're all Zen...
@rbz5416 What makes you think so? Because they have a pre-defined Zen config? I've noticed no other differences.
