iPhone doesn’t automatically connect to wifi

This is strange 

my iPhone sometimes doesn’t automatically connect to WiFi when I’ve returned home, sometimes it does sometimes not, doesn’t matter if I’m close to the router, my wife says it happens with her android from time to time

any ideas please
