Re: HBO shows are not available?

@stewarthastings if you don't have an account with BT anymore, where is your TNT Sports subscription coming from?

If HBO Max says a subscription is managed by discovery+ then it's a fault - this is the data cleanse that @zulu17 has shared.

Re: HBO shows are not available?

I currently have the Full Works package as I got it on a good deal when I renewed just over a year ago (£2 a month more than I was paying for Big Sport with HD Boost alone).

As a result, I was expecting to be able to access HBO content via the HBO Max app when it launched (doesn't seem unreasonable?), but it's only letting me access TNT Sports.

However, only this morning, I have learned that my NOW Entertainment subscription (as part of the Full Works package) now includes access to HBO content.  So I have to access HBO content via the NOW app instead of the HBO Max app!  Talk about being counterintuitive!

I have to say that this isn't very clear in any of the information provided by BT or EETV, or in any of the onscreen promos or references being made by commentators during live sports coverage!  The implication is very much that the HBO Max app gives access to HBO material as well as TNT Sports - no reference to requiring an additional subscription if you only subscribe to sport, or going via the NOW app if you have one of the entertainment packages.

Re: HBO shows are not available?

@andydenyer you can request access to the HBO Max app from Now, if you have a Now TV subscription.  See details here:

Re: HBO shows are not available?

Sky TV now including HBO Max Basic as part of their subscription (not surprising as the cost for the full package is extortionate). However, I watched it for 5 minutes and then upgraded so as to do away with the never ending advertisements. So, all sorted now but my next course of action will be to research how to save money on my Sky subscription...

@DarrenDev  Thanks for that!  A bit of a faff, but I'm pleased to say has worked!  Thanks again.

Re: HBO shows are not available?

Can someone explain why TNT don’t mention you can’t watch any of the other content on HBO without an extra subscription? The way they tell it it’s like it’s all available!

Re: HBO shows are not available?

@GregBowie The TNT Sports subscription should provide access to all the TNT Sports content.  There is a known fault that some of the sports documentaries are currently showing that they're not included, however they will be fixed.

The rest of the HBO Max content is not included, and has never been advertised otherwise.

Re: HBO shows are not available?

@DarrenDev  probably not on paper but tnt has been heavily promoting the Pitt during football games by hosts and commentators on screen which could easily confuse people if they only have the sports pass

they don’t mention anything about relevant subscription requirements and nothing is clearly visible on the on screen graphic

Re: HBO shows are not available?

The wording used by commentators clearly suggests you can watch all content. The pop ups during the games don’t say “additional subscription required”. I wonder how many people have been conned into signing up for HBO thinking they’re only signing in?

Re: HBO shows are not available?

We have no control of the advertising on the channels, but it's normal for a channel to promote other content that can be consumed on the platform.  e.g. Now TV promote content from other subscription packages as part of their advertising, so you could be watching Sky One and see a trailer for Sky Movies, or Sky Sports, etc.

If the advertising isn't clear, then you're welcome to raise a complaint to the ASA: https://www.asa.org.uk/make-a-complaint.html
