Live coverage on an old tablet not full-screening properly

I watch both live and catch up sports coverage using the Discovery+ app on my Youview box, Chromecast dongle, Android 13 phone and my old Android 7 tablet.

On the old tablet the app stopped working properly some time ago frequently blowing out.  Despite the claim that it was still supported on Android 7 devices I came to the conclusion that it had been left to wither and die a natural death so switched to using the Discovery+ web site instead on the tablet which worked (and still does) reasonably well.

More recently I happened to give the latest version of the app another go on the old tablet and to my surprise it now worked properly.   Except for one thing ... when watching live coverage it doesn't full-screen properly.  Catch up coverage does full-screen fine and there is no similar issue on the other devices I use the app on.

Not a biggy, as I can either still use the web site or live with it while streaming coverage of relatively minor interest such as the overnight MotoGP practise sessions from Thailand last weekend before getting up and watching the quali and race coverage on the big TV downstairs.   But thought if developers had gone to the trouble of getting the app working again on older devices that they may want to know that this is one little issue for them to log even if any fix is seen as a low priority.

That is a bit of a strange one. The app is supported on Android 7, it has a minimum version of Android 5.1.

What tablet are you using?

Is the discovery+ app up to date? Have you tried deleting it and installing again to see if that helps?

I've had it happen to me before where the live coverage will only show full screen on my iPad if it is propped up and turned on its side. Does that happen at all?

Thanks for your response. It is a Samsung S2 tablet. I only recently reinstalled the app after many months without it after it stopped working.
It goes sort of full screen but with app page info still above and below it. The other thing is that it does not initially start streaming but hangs with a blank proper full screen. I then hit Back and it goes back to the Sports page but in portrait mode even through the tablet is being held in landscape mode. I then can select Play from Start or Live from there and it is then it goes into partial full screen mode.

If the app is working, albeit not as expected, and it is up to date and working on other devices, I'd recommend reaching out to discovery+ directly so they can look into this for you. 

You can head over to discovery+ support and there is a chat support in the Contact Us section at the bottom of the page.
