Sport Monthly Pass - Simultaneous Streams

I purchase monthly sports passes when there are many events that my family are interested in over the course of a month.

When we have an active pass, we are of course limited to two simultaneous streams. As a household of 5 people this leads to a queue (particularly at the weekend) of people to watch magazine shows. At £25, I felt this was an inconvenience, but in reality it was live events triggering the purchase and I was content to live with it.

Now the pass has increased to £30. Reading the blurb, the reasons for the 20% increase is additional content through access to Discovery plus. Not only does this additional content not really add much value to us (principal reason for purchasing: Live football and UFC - secondary benefit: On demand shows - football, WWE, UFC), but this is only going to make the issue I highlighted previously worse.

Surely, adding additional content is the perfect opportunity to look at the number of price points and number of simultaneous streams. For example, Now TV offer two different price points - one has a single stream and for a £6 premium, you get three streams, Amazon Prime allow 3 simultaneous streams and Netflix allow up to 4. Even Discovery plus allows 4 streams. Please could you advise if this is something that BT Sports / Warner are looking at?

Re: Sport Monthly Pass - Simultaneous Streams

Everything moves to Discovery in July. Nothing will change on our side before then.

Re: Sport Monthly Pass - Simultaneous Streams

That sounds like it might be positive. Has there been any information release on what this offering looks like (my google search yielded very little). In particular;

will the offering continue to require Entertainment with Sports;

will there continue to be 4 simultaneous streams permitted; and

have there been prices released for the combined Discovery product.

Thanks.

Re: Sport Monthly Pass - Simultaneous Streams

There aren't any details yet other than that they'll have something ready for late July. We don't know what the app will be, what platforms will be supported, what subscription options will be offered, etc.

I atleast hope whatever this new app will be, won't be the current build-type used for Discovery+ for Android-based platforms; the  Eurosport 50fps streams on a Fire Stick judder like crazy unlike the BT Sport app, which is actually fit for purpose

You shouldn't be getting any juddering on the Firestick unless your resolution is stuck on 60Hz. Check the display is set to automatic in the Display and Audio settings.

Re: Sport Monthly Pass - Simultaneous Streams

Output is set to 2160p50, and yet, the judder is a ever-present.

Its been an issue for Discovery and Eurosport Player for years, the same issue is now affecting Amazon Prime and DAZN too. I wish i knew why, but thankfully have other means of watching the services, but id rather use the Fire Stick!

BT used to have the same issue, until they actually fixed it in their app, that forced the encoders and processing of the device to reset, which stopped the juddering. (Among other things they did no doubt)
