Is it me, or does TNT Sports Ultimate look very dark today?
Newcastle Vs Arsenal was and now the England Vs New Zealand match look the same.
I tried Sky Sports Main Event UHD and it looked vibrant and 'HDR', whereas today, TNT 4K looks dull and grim.
(Discovery+ and Now TV via a ROKU Streaming Stick 4K, using the same HDR10 profile)
Thanks for coming back to the community 🙂
Are you able to try another device to see if the picture shows as dark?
Does the same happen with any other channels?
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.
@Popeye13_OfficialI watched the Newcastle match and the England and Scotland rugby union matches on ch465 on the Pro tv box and didn’t find any issues with the PQ at all. I’ve recently followed the recommendation of @naylor2006 and have switched my tv to GAME mode and I’m happy with that.
😁
GAME is the way, watch things as they were intended, Tom Cruise even did a YouTube clip on it….sorta

Sporting events shouldn’t need smoothing etc anyway as they should be presented at 50FPS.
Some TV’s have Cinema mode now but I don’t even use that, if you just choose one mode to rule all, no reaching for the remote when you change sources/content etc. Sure it was fun to use HDR vibrant for a couple days until you realise it’s not real life, to most people GAME looks flat first of all but once you get used to it, it’s the way! Very glad @Brucemeister5 you are enjoying it. Has other benefits such as better audio sync (more relevant for AVR’s) and the lowest latency!
Yeah, it was a bit like when I gave up sugar in my tea ( 40 years ago this year) at first. I didn’t think I’d be able to stick with GAME, but I persevered and I’d never go back now. It’s better for me, just like I could never have sugar in my tea now.
Now that is a spot on analogy.
So i went back to Discovery+ and replayed the Premier League match in UHD, same issue of darkness. I even tried Game mode on my TV and it looked......atrocious.
Had the same issue on the Rugby too, where the graphics looked nice but the pictures seemed dark. Had no issue with SS Main Event UHD on the same device with 4K-HDR content.
Even the TNT Sports Ultimate Live logo looked vibrant while the pictures looked dark. Odd!
Thanks for keeping us updated @Popeye13_Official.
Have you been able to flag this with our technical team?
Katie
I’ve had a look at the Newcastle match in UHD on Discovery+ on the Pro tv box and I don’t recognise any darkness @Popeye13_Official . That’s not to disrespect your posts in any way, of course. FWIW I’m not able to make any comparison with Sky Sports UHD, as I don’t have access to it, and I’m not likely to any time soon according to what we’ve been told.
@Brucemeister5 me neither….stuck with BT

I watched the Newcastle game on EETV Pro EPG on C465, looked normal, I watched Super Sunday on Sky Sports UHD on NowTV via Apple TV 4K. Both, for the purposes of this post, looked the same.
Not the most helpful reply but not sure this was an issue felt by the wider audience and probably a localised issue? Sorry don’t have ROKU to test.
Im going to assume your TV flicked over to a HDR mode when the TNT Sports content was being viewed as I guess that could explain it, but you would have already mentioned that.
GAME mode was a way of ruling out any other processing that could have effected the image.
Maybe post a couple photographs, one of Sky UHD and one of TNT, be interesting to compare. I might try the same if I get a chance, I’ve got Newcastle game recorded.
