Are BT  Sport  trying to drive subscriptions down ready to drop Sport altogether?

I refer you to my previous comment: "BT Sport runs at twice the frame rate as most other video streaming services".
We'll be releasing an update soon that will drop the quality to match other streaming services on hardware that can't handle it.

It gets worse, just gone to watch the UFC and can't even watch it, got this message, what an absolute disgrace BT sport is.

Not using a VPN, Windows 10, Firefox.

Just bring back the windows app, all BT have done with this change is cause frustration, if this contines to have faults I'll be cancelling within a week, paying for a dog service right now.

That error suggests connection issues, which the app would have failed with too.

I had to install the BT Sport app on my PS5 which worked perfectly.
