FTTP Step 1 recovery plan

Go to solution

I am having Full Fibre installed. The contract is with Vodafone who then pass it to Open Reach.

The surveyor came out and all fine. The builders have laid the required ducting and Open Reach were due today.

No Sign.

Vodafone now tell me

I have checked and update on Openreach portal - This order is subject to the FTTP Step 1 recovery plan as shared with industry. The current lead time for Step 1 completions is 20 days, we are expecting an update on order confirmation in 29/03/2023

What is an FTTP Step 1 recovery plan in plain English please?  The guy who visited was happy and the estate has had fibre connected under community fibre ( which we paid for) so overall I am less than impressed.

Thank you!

Why are you posting on a BT retail forum about a Vodaphone install? Please post on the Vodaphone forum, it has nothing whatsoever to do with BT.

I don't know what a FTTP Step 1 Recovery plan.

Bear in mind this is a forum for BT retail customers, but somebody may understand this Openreach terminology.

As you say your contract is with Vodafone so it looks as if Vodafone and Openreach have things twisted between them.

Hope things get installed okay.

Re: FTTP Step 1 recovery plan

I am now told ... I have an update from the Openreach helpdesk agent - Apologies for the inconvenience caused as I can check in my system the order control by the chief engineer for the civil work but time is passed no update to the relevant team also i have marked a mail to the relevant team need to be 5 working days for the further update review back on 04.04.2023

The issue being that there are no civil required. It is a new build and the builder has put ducting right upto the BT box as requested. They just need to thread the fibre and connect it !

There is no 'BT box', it is Openreach.

NO. Openreach is an entirely separate company to BT retail.

Openreach provide infrastructure to many ISPs, Vodaphone are not a BT reseller.

The Box in the road has BT cast into it.

Anyway thanks all for the warm welcome. I shan't bother you again.

@Jeremy1234

Try asking here https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/

Someone there should be able to help, maybe one of their forum moderators.

This is what Openreach do https://www.openreach.com/about

Re: FTTP Step 1 recovery plan

Obviously you are frustrated by the progress on your install, but as I said this is a forum largely by BT retail customers for BT retail customers.

Apart from perhaps knowing what a Step 1 recovery plan is, there isn't much else anybody can do.

Contractually you are bound to Vodafone. Only they can try to speed things up for you.
