Internet Speeds

Go to solution

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the current services provided by Virgin Media as my internet service provider. As an eight-year loyal customer, I have recently experienced several issues that have led me to consider switching to an alternative provider.

One of the primary concerns I have is the sudden and significant increase in price for my current plan. Despite being a loyal customer for such a substantial period, the recent price hike has left me feeling disappointed and financially burdened. I believe that as a long-standing customer, I should be entitled to more competitive rates and fair pricing.

Moreover, the quality of the internet connection has been consistently poor, leading to frequent outages and slow speeds. It has become increasingly frustrating to experience a complete loss of internet connectivity, making it impossible to perform even basic tasks such as watching videos or browsing the internet from various rooms in my house, including the kitchen.

Considering these issues, I have made the decision to explore alternative internet service providers that can offer a more reliable and cost-effective solution. After researching the options available in my area, I came across your company and was impressed by the positive feedback and reputation you have gained.

However, upon visiting your website and entering my postcode (LE3 1QN), I noticed that the maximum average speed advertised is 50 Mbps. I am seeking a package with a minimum download speed of 100 Mbps and an upload speed of at least 30 Mbps. These requirements are necessary to accommodate the demands of my household, which includes regular video streaming, online gaming, and remote work.

I kindly request your assistance in finding a suitable package that meets my specific requirements. I am particularly interested in a bundle that includes television services, landline, and broadband. However, it is crucial that the broadband component of the package meets or exceeds the minimum speed specifications I have mentioned.

I would greatly appreciate it if a representative from your company could contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss the available options. I am open to any suggestions or recommendations you may have and would like to explore the possibility of becoming a valued customer of your company.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my request. I look forward to hearing from you soon and potentially beginning a new and improved internet service with your company.

Yours sincerely,

Ashley

@Ashxyz

This is a customer help customer community forum and your post does not go to BT

it would help if you entered your address (NOT POST CODE) and post the results remembering to delete address before posting.  this will show broadband connections available to you

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

if you want to discuss with BT then phone CS 03301234150

Re: Internet Speeds

You’ve got no chance in the middle of Br********n, me-duck.  (I’m Leicester too, so I feel your pain).

To get 100Mb/s you’ll need full fibre (FTTP).  The FTTC available to you at the moment maxes out at 80-70 Mb/s even under perfect conditions.  The post code checker points to 20 Mb/s and that’s best-case figure, so I would not expect to get even that.

Don’t be taken in by the “FTTP on demand”.  That’s a business product where the business pays toward the cable installation and it can be thousands of pounds.  A non-starter unless you’re rich.

On the bright-side, https://bidb.uk suggests CityFibre FTTP is planned in your area.  It might be worth tapping them up to see when, exactly.

Sorry, I can’t be more positive.

@WSH I'm in Leicester too, not far from the city centre and we have G-fast cracking along at 130mbps so no rush for full fibre but Openreach have been cable pulling over the last few weeks so they seem to be on it. This may be because we also have VM and City Fibre in the area

Wrong company entirely @Ashxyz you need the Virgin Media customer forums, not the BT one.
