Openreach useless communication

I've just received the following email from openreach:

"We have a new update for (my address) - we're now planning to build in your area but our plans to build to this specific property aren't confirmed yet. We'll let you know as soon as anything changes and when Full Fibre is available so you can upgrade to the UK's most reliable broadband technology."

I do question the point of this "update". If they were actually starting the build-out of providing a fibre service to my house then it might be a useful communication. But saying in essence: "we're thinking about it, but nothing definite yet" doesn't really provide me with anything that is useful. I wonder what Openreach thinks is achieved by this?

Re: Openreach useless communication

Did you register an interest?

I had similar after I registered an interest.  Most of them a waste of time.  Clearly just an automated mailing list.  Eventually, I suddenly got one, right out of the blue, saying it was now ready to order.  Strange thing was, I never saw any work going on.  (And I'm retired, so I'm about all day).

BT are the same.  I initiated a move to Sky today, although I've not confirmed it yet, but straight away I get an automated email from BT saying "Sorry you're thinking of leaving..." and telling me what will happen and how many wonderful benefits I'm giving up.  Has an actual person followed it up with a counter offer?...nope.  Completely pointless exercise.

Re: Openreach useless communication

They’re generic E-Mails sent from a Mailing List.

Did you think there’s an individual(s) personally replying to each customer E-Mail because I seriously doubt it.

I’d hazard a guess what the E-Mail is implying is that they’re going to build the Exchange your property is in but it’s by no means guaranteed the PON your property will be associated with will be built. It may get decommissioned for a variety of reasons, Cost per THP exceeds the budget, Wayleave Issues, Access Issues, etc.

Re: Openreach useless communication

It so that while you have months pf them tearing up the footpaths and blocking the local roads, you still look at the work in a positive manner!

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!
