Not sure where to ask this question but had a landline fault which has now been fixed and was sent a text to say .. Reply with 1 if it is now OK or 2 in it is not working. When I try to reply it cannot send the reply from my mobile. Get a message to say ...Can't send. It seems I have to pay a PREMIUM CHARGE to reply and pay for this text..
Is this really correct. Thanks

This has ben raised a few times & never really resolved. I believe that to reply isn't actually chargeable but your network recognises that the short text format often is. That's because it's often used to charge a entry fee for a competition. It seems to need two actions to allow a reply to be sent.
- Your phone needs to be configured to allow the sending of premium texts
- Your mobile account needs a maximum overspend above £0.
It would be helpful if the Mods could get a final clarification on this.

Re: Premium cost to reply to BT SMS
Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. Does seem a bit strange ,, As you say, maybe the Mods could ask the question or clarify the situation.
Needless to say I did not change my SMS setting to Premium... 🙂
Thanks again
