So have I got this right? Having DV is a major obstacle to switching to a bb only deal with another provider?
Digital Voice is BT's VOIP telephone system and it is unique to BT.
You can have Digital Voice phone account without BT Broadband if you decide to change broadband providers.
If you leave BT you can not use Digital Voice however you can use another VOIP phone system from one of the many companies that offer it and you can keep your phone number.
Sky can give me 18 -20 Mbps apparently.
Plus net: No phone line.
Talk talk a good deal includes landline but BT has disconnected in favour of DV so…?
@gg30340 Shouldn’t that be you cannot have Digital Voice with BT broadband? Or have I misunderstood something?
Having telephony with BT (PSTN or DV ) is no obstacle to moving to another broadband only provider, why would you think it is , clearly the new provider doesn’t raise a request to import your phone number from BT to themselves , and when they start to supply their broadband to you , the entire BT service (broadband and telephony) are ceased .
The post says "You can have Digital Voice phone account without BT Broadband"!

That must be the case because people who presently only have a BT landline phone with no broadband are getting moved to Digital Voice.

What about BT's obligation under the Universal Service Obligation.
