As I have not switched ever back to 1984 I am probably on the worst deal in the country with BT particularly until January having 2 separate accounts and 2 landline numbers, 2 broadbands etc. I have been gradutally reducing us from the peak days of SIX different numbers to the house to today one only.
So currently state of play is BT broadband with digital voice landline - 1997 got this number so want to keep it and had FTTP with Community Fibre installed end of Dec (BT. open reach don't offer it here - our bit of outer London)
So far so good so am now in my final stage. I am porting my landline number later this week not to CF as I want to keep a bit of separation but to Voipfone (£6 a month plus call charges if over 100 minutes). BT as is normal cancel the broadband too from that day but that does not matter as the porting is taking place and I have the CF FTTP in place already.
For the first time since I took out an account with them in 1984 BT has called me. It was someone who said he was working from Hertfordshire. He did the normal salesman's tactic of asking the reasons for cancellation or "thinking of moving" has he phrased it. I said it ports on Friday and I have no obligation to say my reasons so I think he realiised he was on to a loser with me so we ended the call perfectly politely at that.
