Change password on sub-account?

Go to solution

I need to change the password on an  email (sub)account that I set up some years ago.  I'm the main account holder (I have access to myBT),

It's a sub-account (not gifted).  Do I do that in MyBT or from the actual email account? The holder knows the current password but is a bit nervous about making a mistake and being locked out (she is quite elderly). I've changed my own password directly from the email page on several occasions but I'm not sure if I can do that with a sub-account.  Thanks for any advice.

If you have not "gifted" the email address and it is still "managed" by you you can change it via your MyBT by going to "Your Products" then "Email, manage" then go to the email address and click on "See Options" and the "Change Password" and follow the prompts.

It might be worth mentioning to the holder of the account if she uses a web browser to access the email account it may be the case that the browser has "auto fill" active and has stored the "old" password so it may be the case that she will need over write it and the browser should then prompt to update the stored password.

The password will also need to be changed to the new one if she uses any apps or email clients on mobile devices.

Thank you - I'll do that.  She gave her password to a carer so she could organise online grocery deliveries - a lovely lady, no suggestion of skullduggery - and now the lady has moved on she thought it best to change the password; she was watching a programme about scammers and the main advice was never to give your email password to someone else.  In this case I think it was justified though - sometimes you have to trust people.
