Memory difference ipad toniphone

Go to solution

Hi, my iPad uses lots more email app memory than my iPhone.  Any ideas how to free up my iPad? Thanks.

Hi @BobF1,

Welcome to the BT Community

Is this the BT Mail app you are using on both devices or the default Apple Mail app? What sort of size difference are you seeing?

If it is the Apple Mail app or another client you know if the account on your iPad is set to use POP3, as that stores e-mails on your device so could potentially use a lot of storage space. You should be able to check by selecting the e-mail account in the e-mail app you are using and checking the settings/properties.

Hi Alex, thanks for coming back so swiftly.  BT app is on the iPad and iPhone and the app size shows same on both but the data etc. is over 1Gb more on the iPad.  It’s about 600mb compared to 1.6Gb.  They are both imap.

Bob

@BobF1 Thanks for answering, since both are using IMAP the difference in data stored locally on each device will just relate to the app cache for each which would be influenced by what e-mails you have opened on each over the time you have been using them.

If you wanted to clear the cache on the iPad you should be able to remove and re-install the BT Mail app and log back in.
