Transferring every single message from webmail to Outlook

For years I have accessed my BT email using webmail. There are 1020 messages there, going back to 2012. I can access them all. I would now like to back up all of them using Outlook. I've created an Outlook account using IMAP but only 756 messages - going back only as far as 02.08.25 - have transferred. How can I get all 1020 messages to appear in Outlook?

There should be a setting in Outlook to set how far back to sync messages.

It can take a while even hours for all the messages to sync the first time.

Thanks for your speedy reply, @licquorice . Much appreciated. And you are correct. I didn't know about this setting in Outlook; accessed via 'Settings'. Disappointingly, I have now learned that it will synchronise as far back as only 180 days. Might it be a good idea to create an 'Archive' folder in BT Webmail and then try to synchronise with that? I'll try it and report back.
