Net disconnects, followed by speed lowered significantly, despite normal latency

Go to solution

Hello folks!

A typical symptom of my net, going back years, is that it'll disconnect and reconnect at a third of the speed with HIGH latency. Historically, a basic reset of the router fixed that every time.

However, now it seems that 'fix' doesn't work.

> net disconnects every couple hours

> reconnects at <20mbps with normal latency

> both Ethernet and WiFi impacted

I've tried 3 routers and multiple adapters.

What else can I do to troubleshoot this myself, please? Before I go down the engineer route and have them spend an hour trying to convince me it's the walls in my house causing it, etc

Thank you very much

if your router is dropping internet connection as often as every few hours then there is  a line problem  provided you don't have digital voice have you tried dialling 17070 option 2  should be silent and nay noise is a problem and need reporting as a fault to BT

constant drops in connection will result in DLM taking action to stabilise your line by increasing noise margin and reducing connection speed

Thanks for getting back to me.

As of approx 2 weeks ago, I no longer have a landline, nor digital voice. Unsure of next steps.

if you have tried connecting hub direct to the test socket with a filter and you still get the disconnects then you need to report a fault to CS 03301234150
