how are all BT , trooli , EE ,sky and so on ADSL modem rotors that are using copper broadband going to continue to work ? if this is so . Time for Openreach post a statement as a lot misleading statement are being posted on the internet
Solved! Go to Solution.
broadband ADSL will continue to work over the copper lines it is the PSTN phone service which is scheduled to cease in jan 2027 and moving to VOIP
This is a BT retail forum and has nothing to do with Openreach.
However do you mean something like this.

It is the landline telephones that are being replaced at this time. Not the copper wires/cables that carry broadband although that will eventually happen as well but not until Fibre is available as the replacement.
Digital Voice/VOIP phones can work over copper cables.
As stated , the only thing that’s being switched off in Jan 2027 is the legacy PSTN phone system, anyone that needs telephony will need to use IP telephony by then , it’s called BT DV (Digital Voice) in the case of BT .
Something in your post isn’t clear , if you are already on SoGEA then this is irrelevant to you as you are not on PSTN anyway so not affected , if you mean your ISP has offered you SoGEA but you think it’s too expensive, plenty of other ISPs are available , it’s not true that a tiny little niche provider you use is the only provider available .
Not sure why you thing Openreach need to issue anything , you are not their customer and they are not your provider, it’s your providers job to keep you appraised.
