BT already have a broadband package which excluse a call package but you cannot have broadband without paying for line rental whether that is a copper or fibre line. The drop in package cost is negligable This has been covered many time on forum before.
This link about connecting extension sockets.
I assume that BT will send me a Smart Hub2 when Digital Voice is rolled out in my area ?
Is any provision being made by BT to ensure that all the old hubs, adsl filters etc are properly recycled rather than simply dumped into household waste ? Apologies if this has been covered before in other topics. Searching for specific answers is more time consuming than asking a new question.
If BT supply updated equipment then they will also supply a bag to return the old equipment for recycling

Charming!
"Assuming that this results in the full spectrum becoming available to Broadband, does anyone have a view on what kind of speed uplift that may result to those of us trapped on FTTC without g.fast, or if this has even been considered by BT/others?"
Unfortunately not.
The current bandplan will remain the same. DSL specifications don't allow carriers below 4Khz to be used.
Even if they could use the current voice tones and the guard band between voice and data tones, it would only provide a tiny increase to the U0 upstream band, increasing upstream speed by a fairly insignificant amount.
